Dear Madame Speaker...
The only up-side to the decision in the report was that "Lawmakers will be free to light up in their own offices. But no longer can they mingle in the Speaker's Lobby in a haze of cigarette smoke during House votes, as they did just Tuesday night while passing anti-terrorism legislation."
Even her own fellow California GOP Representative, David Dreier was forced to cave in. Dreier was quoted as saying, "That's how life is now. They're banning smoking everywhere." 'The scent of Dreier's cigars has filled the third floor of the Capitol, especially during visits from Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. But Dreier took Pelosi's decision in stride,' the article continued. "I like to have an occasional cigar in my office," Dreier said, but "she's the speaker of the House, she can make these kinds of decisions."
So Madame Speaker, with all due respect on behalf of cigar smokers from both sides of the aisle, as well all of us Independent cigar smokers out there, from this point on, would you please stick to addressing the issues that concern the sovereignty and survival of The United States of America? Thank you.
Yours truly,
~ GK
