When Limbaugh is President there will be cigar smoking in the oval office
Feb-19-2007
Last night, I tuned in to watch the pilot of "The 1/2 Hour News Hour" which debuted on the FOX News Channel. I suppose the simplest way to describe it would be "The Anti-Daily Show." The opening bit, which had the look and feel of a traditional Saturday Night Live opening, cast Rush Limbaugh as the President of The United States speaking from the oval office. Absurd for sure, but I thought it was funny. Midway into the bit, Limbaugh calls for the Vice President and in walks Ann Coulter. Again I found myself laughing.

Shortly afterward, "President" Limbaugh takes a cigar out his humidor and offers one to "Vice President" Coulter.

"Mr. President, I thought smoking was banned in the White House," says Coulter.

"Not anymore!," bellows Limbaugh. [Big laugh from audience]

I continued to watch "The 1/2 Hour News Hour" through its first news segment and thought the show was well written. Following that, they ran a "PR ad" for the ACLU that was particularly scathing. (I liked that, too.) At that point I switched off the program and watched my Netflix rental; more so because it was getting late. I just wanted to get "a taste" of the new show.

From the little I saw, I thought the "The 1/2 Hour News Hour" did a good job at jibing the liberals. After all, why should they have all the fun?
